This program is for participants with complex behaviour. It’s key element is to eliminate the dependency on restrictive practices to manage behaviours. The program is run by staff who are trauma informed and positive behavior trained, this training equips them with skills to teach replacement behaviour in a therapeutic way. This approach safeguards participants from retraumatisation by the manner and setting in which supports are delivered. This program is provided in the community or in a SIL, SIL-SDA house, a homely enviroment. Our staff training also focuses on strong systematic data collection, close implementation of support plans, crisis response, risk assessment and reflective practice. This training is coupled with a management structure that is responsive and proactive. We have achieved success with this model supporting some of the most complex participants in Victoria through the young peoples pathway.
